It’s #facesoftahoecity Friday. Meet Tim Hauserman, Freelance Writer,Tahoe XC Strider Glider Operator & Tahoe City Local.
Tim moved to Tahoe City as a 2-year-old when his family relocated from the bay area into a cabin behind the downtown Lake Chalet Motel & eventually to their Dollar Hill family home. The Hauserman family shortly transformed the old motel into The Cobblestone Center & began Hauserman Real Estate, known today as Hauserman Rental Group.
Growing up Tahoe was a blast for Tim and his five brothers & sisters, but, like many locals, Tim moved away for his undergraduate studies atCalifornia State University, Chico & graduate studies at upstate New York’sCornell University – both in City & Regional Planning. However, after two years working in New York’s Catskills Mountains & hours sitting i
n traffic after a job interview in Sausalito, Tim knew Tahoe City was calling him home…again.
Back in Tahoe City Tim joined the family real estate business for 20 years, but it wasn’t until he created the Tahoe Rim Trail Guide Book that he found his true passion – writing. Tim writes columns & articles for Moonshine Ink,Sierra Sun-North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, The Tahoe Weekly & he recently wrote the children’s book Gertrude’s Tahoe Adventures in Time. In winter, Tim occupies his time at Tahoe XC running the Strider Glider Program, helping over 200 preschool to 5th grade children learn & become excited about a sport they can enjoy for a lifetime – often wearing a funny hat! 🙂
When not writing or skiing, you can find Tim biking (3-time finisher of theRAGBRAI 450-mile bike race across Iowa), hiking, paddling & visiting his daughters Sarah (in Boston), Hannah (in Los Angeles) or his extended family across the county.
With a lifetime of memories, Tim is proud to call Tahoe City his HOME – the nature, the small businesses, the great community spirit, the amazing downtown walk-ability – all things that can easily be included his next story!
Stay tuned for more #facesoftahoecity next Friday.
