As you may or may not know, Tahoe City Day is just around the corner, on August 8th. It’s that time of the year when we come together to honor Tahoe City. Tahoe City’s 160th year will be a week-long community celebration!
Here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store:
- Week-Long Photo Contest: Throughout the week, we’ll be hosting an exciting photo contest. Capture the beauty and spirit of Tahoe City through your lens and share it with the community for a chance to win some fantastic prizes!
- Full Moon Market at Boatworks Mall – August 1st
- Discover the magic of our first full moon market as The Boatworks Mall and all our shops welcome you for an enchanting evening. Join us for shopping, live music with Jonathan Hennion and Gregory Brown, delightful wine tasting, and delicious food. Experience what’s new and exciting at Boatworks Mall. Don’t miss this captivating event under the full moon!
- Waterfront Wednesday & Gatekeepers Museum Open House – August 2nd: Head on down to the beach for Waterfront Wednesday, a Lakeside Movie Series event at Commons Beach. Featuring yoga on the beach, local artisans and food, the lakeside movie is a family-friendly event for all- the fun starts at 4pm and the movie (Minions: the Rise of Gru- PG 87 min) begins at dusk. Gatekeepers Museum Open House – 1-4 pm. Join us for an afternoon at the Gatekeepers Museum! Enjoy live jazz music on the patio, explore fascinating museum tours, and indulge in refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres. It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with friends of the museum and immerse yourself in our local culture. All staff will be on hand to make your visit enjoyable. Admission is free
- Farmers Market Thursday – August 3rd: Visit the Farmers Market for an incredible array of fresh produce, juice & smoothies, wild fish, meats, baked goods, prepared foods, artisan goods, and natural skincare products. You can even enjoy live music and treat yourself to a soothing massage.
- First Fridays at Muse – August 4th: Don’t miss the fun-filled First Fridays event, featuring an outdoor extravaganza of food, music, and art in Downtown Tahoe City. This fun-filled event is a delightful blend of delicious offerings like Pablo’s Pizzas and Tahoe Food Hub, accompanied with refreshing beverages from the dance collective, and unique creations by local artisans. Relax, connect, and bask in the serene beauty of Burton Creek State Park and Burton Creek.
- First Fridays Jazz at Tahoe Tap Haus – August 4th. Indulge in the smooth and soulful sounds of live jazz at Tahoe Tap Haus from 9 – 11 pm
- Tahoe City Library Party – Saturday August 5th from 1-3pm is party time! Let’s all celebrate all the books we enjoyed over the summer. Tahoe City Friends Of the Library will be doing tie-dye bags to complement other activities provided by the library.
- Sidewalk Saturdays and Skate the Lake – August 5th! Don’t miss the fun in Tahoe City on Saturday! Join us for Sidewalk Saturdays and Skate the Lake Community Celebration. Show your love for the community by supporting local businesses and enjoying shopping, dining, music, and fun. Kick off the 19th Annual Skate The Lake with a day of live music, yoga, tasty BBQ, cold drinks, and exciting activities. Skate 28 (or 8) miles along the stunning shores while raising funds for breast cancer education, prevention, and survivorship programs. Stay for the silent auction and huge raffle! It’s a day filled with community love and great memories.
- The Beer Gardeners at Pete’n’Peters – August 7th – Head down to Pete’n’Peters on August 7th at 7pm for a night of energetic live music by the talented Tahoe local band, The Beer Gardeners.
- Sunday Concert at Commons Beach – Poor Man’s Whiskey: On Sunday, August 6th, we have a spectacular concert lined up at Commons Beach featuring Poor Man’s Whiskey. Northern California’s outlaw music bards bring a reputation for high-energy live shows and an incomparable fusion of bluegrass/old time, southern rock, and old school jam to stages and festivals worldwide. It’s going to be a night of music and memories you won’t want to miss!
- Live Music at Tahoe Tap Haus – Dear Darling makes their debut at Tap Haus on Sunday, August 6th for their #liveandlocal music series! The free show runs 7 pm-930pm, directly following the show at Commons Beach.
- Tuesday, August 8th – Town Cleanup & Special Activities: Join us for Tahoe City Day on Tuesday, August 8th, as we kick off the day with a special yoga class at Gatekeepers at 8 AM. After rejuvenating our minds and bodies in the heart of our beautiful town, we’ll give back to our community through a morning town cleanup from 9 AM to 12 PM Sign in will be at Heritage Plaza and we will have Trash Force TC, our 64 Acres Cleanup Crew and our Tahoe City Downtown Crew Collaborating on this amazing cleanup effort. Let’s celebrate together with town-wide specials and unique activities throughout the day, showing our love for our beloved town and its rich history. Don’t miss this incredible day of wellness, community spirit, and celebration! Watson Cabin will be open from 10am-3pm
