The Tahoe City Downtown Association (TCDA) is incredibly excited to have Moe’s Original Bar B Que BBQ open for business right here in Tahoe City. This “friendchise” owned by Colorado transplants Josh Wallick, Eric Pilcher and Luke Dannals has been turning heads since it opened in late June and is quickly becoming a town favorite in only one month.
On July 30, the TCDA staff was invited to stop in for a sampling of their Alabama inspired home cooking. We were quickly served pulled and chopped pork, fried shrimp, wings, jalapeño corn bread, cheese grits, mac and cheese, collard greens, cucumber and tomato salad, banana pudding and a root beer float cup. What an amazing and filling lunch! Everything was fresh, smoked over hardwood, and served with a smile by both Luke and Eric. If that won’t get you in the door, then maybe the prices will. On average, meals run $10-$14 and are served with two sides, a soft drink, sweet tea or lemonade. Specials and sides change daily. If you are looking for a stronger beverage, there is a wide selection of draft and bottled beer, wine and other drinks like a Fools Mule (think Moscow Mule) or a Bloody Mary with a delicious rib on top. What? You might become thirsty and hungry just thinking about that drink!
Beyond the incredible southern style comfort food, the second floor of Moe’s is home to a 200+ capacity music venue and conference space, complete with a second bar. On July 5, Moe’s hosted two members of Greensky Bluegrass, a top nationally touring band, for a fun evening of acoustic bluegrass music. And when TCDA’s Concerts at Commons Beach was rained out on July 20, Lebo and Friends moved their funky jams inside this incredible indoor venue, which also has panoramic views of Lake Tahoe.
