The Sierra State Parks Foundation is very pleased to offer a presentation by Todd Mather, TGM Architect.
To survive, Man needs food, water and shelter. From this root, delicious food and artisan waters have sustained the artistic side of sustenance. Architecture with its origins in a cold, damp cave has also developed into nearly unimaginative structures. Beginning with a quick overview of how architecture has morphed since the Dawn of Man, Mather will then focus on current regional thought.

Dwelling in sometimes fierce climates as found in Northern California requires a well-thought approach to architecture. Regional, national and international architects are creating buildings that respond artistically and scientifically to those Sierra Nevadans that inhabit them. Mather will discuss the successes and failures of regional architecture and the theories behind them, as well as his virtual reality studio to full-immerse his clients in the design process.

Todd Gordon Mather is a member of the American Institute of Architects, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe. Mr. Mather’s interest in serving his community as well as his profession is reflected in his efforts as a Park City Historic District Commissioner and currently as the Chairman of the Tahoe Basin Design Review Committee. He is also founder of the Architectural League of Lake Tahoe which promotes and seeks to develop the unique and exceptional architecture and architectural design language around the Lake Tahoe Basin through education, advocacy and collaboration. He has engineered for 24 years, with his work based out of Tahoe City and spanning all over the San Francisco Bay area to Utah’s Wasatch Mountains and into the Colorado ski resort towns.
