A new temporary mini park, named the Tahoe City Yard, has opened along Highway 28 thanks to the leadership of California 89 and the incredible support of more than 50 volunteers and donors who helped transform the space.
The effort pushed back construction fencing at the future hotel development site to create a welcoming community gathering space with picnic benches and room for visitors and locals to relax until the hotel project moves forward.
As part of the North Tahoe Community Alliance Town Center Revitalization Project, the North Tahoe Chamber and Tahoe City Downtown Association will also add public artwork along the fencing to help activate and beautify the area later this summer.
The fencing artwork project will begin accepting artist applications in late May at VisitTahoeCity.org.
The Tahoe City Yard project reflects a strong community effort focused on beautification, placemaking, and creating welcoming public spaces in the heart of Tahoe City.
Kudos to California 89 and everyone who donated time, energy, and support to help bring this project to life.
