After taking a year off, North Tahoe Arts’ iconic ARTour is returning as a juried event in downtown Tahoe City. On the weekend of August 12 & 13 artists will be selling their work in Tahoe City, and demonstrating their artistic processes. In addition, work from some of the artists will be exhibited in NTA’s Corison Loft from August 2 through September 12, with a reception on August 4.
BACKGROUND
North Tahoe Arts (NTA) has held a traditional studio tour for 22 years. However, in the last couple of years traffic in the North Tahoe area during the summer has made it very difficult for visitors to reach some of the artist locations. After taking a year off to listen to input from artists and visitors, we have restructured ARTour to take place in one location, Tahoe City.
In keeping with NTA’s mission of education, and with the spirit of a studio tour, there will be considerable emphasis on demonstrations and discussion by the artists about their creative processes. The opportunity to watch demos and presentations makes ARTour a compelling experience for visitors and differentiates it from traditional craft fairs.
