Robb Gaffney – extreme skier extraordinaire, author of Squallywood, champion for Keep Squaw True, esteemed psychiatrist and all around great guy – was recently diagnosed with a rare blood/bone marrow cancer called Myelodysplastic syndrome with excess blasts. As he undergoes major medical treatment over the next few months in Truckee and at MD Anderson in Texas, he and his family will incur serious costs above and beyond what insurance covers.
What better way to celebrate this Tahoe legend and raise money for his expenses than with two of the ski movies he is best known for, 1999 and Immersion, both made by his brother, Scott Gaffney. There will also be a raffle with great prizes. All proceeds from the night will go to the Gaffney family.

Immersion (2002)
Scott Gaffney has embarked on an effort to capture skiing’s soul, spirit and rewards in an unprecedented manner with just five of the sport’s premiere athletes. The film is a soulful documentation of realism, passion and personalities. For those who appreciate the beauty of stylistic turns and incredible winter light as well as the most progressive moves, billy-goat lines, cliff hucks and big mountain descents, Immersion will satiate the need and get viewers closer to the real action than ever before. Immersed in the snow, immersed in the dedication, immersed in a way of life. Features: Shane McConkey, Brad Holmes, CR Johnson, Robb Gaffney.
1999
1999 stands as one of the finest winters in Sierra history, and Gaffney was right there to capture it. From rowdy lines to ridiculous hilarity, from the dawn of a new age in freestyle to deep powder, from huge whitewater to hucking mothers, it’s all in this underground 16mm film that wowed viewers and critics alike. It was Freestyle Magazine’s Movie of the Year. Featuring: Robb Gaffney, Shane McConkey, JT Holmes, Jonny Mosley, CR Johnson.
