Join silk artist, Louise Noel, for a one-day journey into the brilliant and joyous realm of silk painting. We will paint a scarf using the Serti (closed fence) method of silk painting. An assortment of patterns is available for students to choose from and, you will have a frame for painting both long and square pieces. In this session we will use various resists. . . dive into vibrant color, play with surface treatments, use alcohol and salt to create texture and movement. Steam setting will be provided for your finished scarves so you can proudly wear or display your art.
Materials provided (students will keep): Jaquard dyes, DuPont black resist, silk painting handbook, applicator bottle and tip for resist, mixing containers, stretcher frame with masking tape and pins, round and foam brushes, 2 silk scarves. Salt alcohol and surface treatment for experimenting will also be provided. Steamsetting of your finished work (to be provided after the session). Bring a sack lunch and wear old clothes or an apron.
