Join a guided intermediate level skate ski tour to find and learn about the trees along the trails of Tahoe Cross Country. We will locate and learn how to identify white fir, Jeffrey pine, lodgepole, sugar pine, incense cedar, red fir, and western white pine (still searching for a hemlock and juniper, so if we find one, we will talk about those as well).
Tahoe trees have altitude ranges that they prefer to live in, so you can often tell what your elevation is by what trees you see, which means we have to gain some elevation to see all the different trees. Expect an approximately 20 km ski, with short stops to talk about the trees. At the lodge we will create our brown bag lunch from catered fixins, then carry it along to eat at the Orange Hut.
