A special Tailgate Talk during Mountain Festival is a Hilaree Nelson and Jim Morrison tandem presentation about the first descent of the much sought-after Lhotse Couloir. In October 2018, Jim Morrison and The North Face teammate Hilaree Nelson became the first people to ski from the 27,940-foot summit of Lhotse, the fourth-highest mountain in the world. Their 7,000-vertical-foot ski line down the Lhoste Couloir is considered one of the most aesthetic descents among the world’s tallest mountains. This is a very special opportunity to see two of the world’s premier mountain athletes in a down-home and intimate setting. Jim and Hilaree normally give presentations to large groups but their generosity and support of both Mountain Festival and the North Lake Tahoe community will see them present their show at Alpenglow on Saturday, February 22nd.
Hilaree and Jim will conduct a Q&A and sign posters after the show.
The Tailgate Talks have become a cherished tradition at Alpenglow Sports over the past 11 years, with the intention to bring the greater North Lake Tahoe community together to learn about and celebrate the various aspects of the mountains that we all love, at no cost. Bringing in a series of speakers and athletes passionate about their respective sports, the environment, and the greater community, the Tailgate Talks are the ultimate way to come together and connect with our neighbors. We look forward to seeing you there!
The show is free and beverage sales at Tailgate Talks for Mountain Festival will benefit the Tahoe Backcountry Alliance.
