Meet Dave Wilderotter, President of Tahoe Dave’s Skis & Boards, Chief Micro-Manager, Facilitator of FUN and Tahoe City local!
Dave was born and raised in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula and studied Psychology at the University of Michigan (go blue!). Dave kept busy in college as the social steward of his fraternity SAE – basically he was required to throw awesome parties.
After college, Dave moved to Aspen and San Francisco before he settled permanently in Tahoe City in 1977. Dave worked at ski shop in Tahoe City, bused tables at Alpine Meadows and even spent 15 summers in Alaska as a “net-setter” on a commercial fishing boat with his sister.
However, after his first winter in Tahoe City, the owner of the ski shop he worked for retired. Instead of finding a new job, Dave and shop manager, Terry Wilson, decided to open a new ski shop at Tahoe City’s Henrikson building. What started out as a small one-man shop has now turned into five locations across North Lake Tahoe and Truckee.
Dave loves his job because he is passionate about the ski industry, loves his colleagues & customers and, most importantly, he enjoys facilitating FUN!
Beyond fun, Dave contributes over $20,000 annually to local organizations, he recently purchased a Truckee trailer park to help house dozens of his employees, and he is actively working to make Tahoe Dave’s become “employee owned” after his retirement. No wonder why Tahoe Dave’s is consistently voted as the BEST place to work in the region.
When not working you can find Dave skiing, golfing, listening to live music (Concerts at Commons Beach founding member & current President), enjoying dinner at Rosies Cafe, Tahoe Blue Agave, Za’s, River Grill (too many to name!), roadtripping to visit with his 6 sisters & 2 brothers or finding excuses to avoid the gym.
Stop by Tahoe Dave’s this President’s Day weekend to enjoy the new snow with your pick of the largest selection of rental/demo equipment on the North Shore & much more. Dave will guarantee lots of FUN!
