Meet Valli Murnane, Tahoe XC Ski Area Manager, Tahoe Cross Country Ski Education Association Non-Profit Director & Tahoe City local.
Born in Australia and raised in Tasmania, Valli made the big move to the USA to teach English horse riding. However, her love of the mountains brought her to the southern Sierras (Sequoia/Kings Canyon) for six years and eventually to Tahoe City – to begin her 19-year career at Tahoe XC.
Over the years, Valli has learned every role at Tahoe XC. She serves as Ski Area Manager, Non Profit Director, Human Resources Manager, Marketing Manager, Janitor, Wax Technician and even Bobcat & Snowmobile Driver & Groomer. She does it all!
Valli loves life at Tahoe XC because she is able to share her love of Nordic skiing and the environment with others, plus she believes Tahoe City is the perfect place to raise her two children, Lily and Kai.
When not working, you can find Valli mountain & road biking, backpacking, running, enjoying family time with her kids (& dogs), learning the mandolin and ukulele…and relaxing at the Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema.
Valli is thrilled for a special year in Tahoe City – a year that includes another early season & beginning plans for a new lodge at Tahoe XC and the grand opening of the Tahoe City Ice Rink – in the heart of Tahoe City at the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park (managed by Tahoe XC).
Learn to ice skate & nordic ski with Valli tomorrow, Dec. 10, at the Tahoe City Ice Rink Grand Opening. Activities include the Rotary Club of Tahoe City Santa’s Party, ribbon cutting ceremony, opening of Cafe Zenon, FREE skating with Olympic gold medalist Jonny Moseley & more surprises.
Thank you Valli for all you do for Tahoe City! Let’s skate!
