Concerts at Commons Beach welcome all ages
Music and revelry fill the air every Sunday afternoon at Commons Beach in Tahoe City. The free summer concert series goes strong through Labor Day weekend, and select weekends include special events such as the Mobility Expo on June 28, UC Davis Children’s Environmental Science Day on Aug. 2 and Beach to Peaks winter preview on Aug. 16.
“Our 11th year of Concerts at Commons Beach offers an exceptional line up of performers plus fantastic food vendors,” says Stacie Lyans, Tahoe City downtown Association’s Executive Director. “Come early for a great day on the beach with your friends.”
The family friendly, non-smoking outdoor concerts invite a lot of dancing in front of the stage and on the sidelines. Children especially enjoy the fully equipped playground just steps from the sandy beach. Attendees can purchase refreshments including sourdough pretzels, homemade soups and salads, barbecue, ice cream, beer and wine from on site vendors or enjoy snacks and picnic dinners from home.
Music highlights include nationally touring Devon Allman Band led by Gregg Allman’s soulful and bluesy son Devon who is clearly born to rock, Mumbo Gumbo which blends many genres from rock to soul, Afropop to lush balladry and Zydeco to country and San Francisco’s high energy bluegrass quartet The Brothers Comatose.
