We are happy to announce D. Gyrl as the winner in our “Wintertime in Tahoe City”  contest.  Here’s the winning entry:

What I love most about Wintertime in Tahoe City is the feeling of intimacy among complete strangers on a windy, snow filled day when I find myself yourself ducking into the nearest restaurant. I love that feeling of warmth that settles in almost immediately when I step in from the cold and find that there may not be many people inside yet each person has the glow of the day on their cheeks and a subtle sense of adventure resting in the air for the those that chose to brave the elements to be there at that moment. Jackets strewn aside and hair a mess from a hat not needed in the warmth, the smell of food i n the air. I like knowing that some are locals and others are there trying to taste what it must be like to live like a “local” for a day, a week or even just that moment. Being in Tahoe, awakens an internal awareness to my surroundings and my senses that become otherwise muted in the monotony of daily life. So, I find myself loving that feeling of going from being a little to cold to the welcome warmth of an environment heated with the smell of food and the glow of strangers, each of them there finding an awaking of their own that gives us all something in common for one moment.

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us and congratulations!  We’ll see you and a friend on board the Tahoe Gal for our annual TCDA Fundraiser Cruise happening on June 4th.
